The garage of the Sunshine Castle saw host to the 6th monthly Wigg Party Party last night. The event featured a presentation of our recommendations for the Wiggle section of the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition’s Connecting the City campaign, a discussion of our upcoming Carrotmob event, and a surprise guest appearance by none other than Susan King of Livable City to get the Wigg Party jazzed about the upcoming Sunday Streets event on September 19th.
I’ll spare you all the details; you kind of had to be there. But many exciting projects abound.
If you are interested in participating in refining our recommendations for the Wiggle, you should attend the next Wiggle Transformers working group meeting being held Monday July 26th at 8:30 pm at 1654 Grove St. You’ll also want to keep your eye on our calendar as there are some other community organizations who have upcoming meetings that are relevant to this issue.
If the idea of a Carrotmob descending on our beloved neighborhood interrupts your sleep pattern, you’ll want to catch the next Sustainable Business working group meeting being held this coming Wednesday July 21st at 9 pm at 1571 Fulton St. This will be your opportunity to get involved in the process of selecting a business and spreading the word about this exciting event.
We’ll also be convening a special working group to plan and execute our presence at the Panhandle Sunday Streets on September 19th. This group will be meeting on Monday July 19th at 9 pm at 1571 Fulton Street to discuss ways we can represent our hood and our cause at Sunday Streets. Some ideas to whet your whistle:
- Live music
- Speeches and poetry readings
- Bike maintenance and other Re-Skilling booths
- Freecycle zones
- Creating a model “livable” block
- Building a big wheel racetrack down Baker St.
- Two words: Milk Paint
All these ideas and more will be discussed. Bring your creativity and ambition!
Finally, we’d like to give you advanced notice that starting next month the Wigg Party Party will be held on the second Thursday of the month, this one falling on August 12th. We will also move up the starting time one hour, so we’ll start convening at 7:30 and the meeting will start at 8. This will hopefully allow for more people to come and for the Party element of the Wigg Party Party to be a little bit rowdier. See you all there!
